Typhoon Yagi has grazed the northern portion of the island province of Hainan, China on Friday, and is expected to make another landfall in northern Vietnam over the weekend. The storm has been proceeded with heavy rains & strong winds, resulting in road closures, mandatory evacuations for over a million people in and around Hainan, extreme flooding, and landslides. The storm hit Hainan as a Category 4 Hurricane, and is expected to loose momentum as it moves toward northern Vietnam.
The impacts of this storm are grounded flights, heavy flooding, power outages, transport delays, and port congestion in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Haiphong, VN as many people and boats have been evacuated or recalled to shore for safety. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange was closed Friday due to the extreme weather. Many vendors and carriers in China are re-opening or resuming normal operations as they are able as of Friday afternoon, just as many northern Vietnamese businesses and carriers brace for Yagi to make landfall on Saturday.
